What is psychodynamic psychotherapy?

Psychodynamic therapy is a talking therapy based on the psychoanalytic principles originally described by Freud. Through building a trusting relationship over time, you come to a deeper understanding of what makes you tick and this insight can bring relief from persistent symptoms, including depression and anxiety.

This form of open-ended psychotherapy gradually reveals how your past life experiences are influencing your present reality. Working at your pace, you can trace the origin and development of your inner world, and seek to understand better how the hidden, unconscious parts of your mind are shaping your life.

The working process requires both of us to be open and curious about what is going on for you on many levels. I will seek to build a strong non-judgemental, compassionate and confidential relationship with you.

If the timing is right, and I am the right therapist for you, this time together might enable you to shift long-held but limiting beliefs and find relief.
